JOB DESCRIPTION

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and providing food services to residents in an efficient manner to safely meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Preparation of a variety of nutritious and appetizing meals and snacks for residents and staff, following planned menus, along with specialized meals in accordance with medically ordered therapeutic diets. All food preparation must be completed in accordance with sanitary regulations as well as established policies and procedures. Assist with inventory of food products and insuring that sufficient supplies are on hand for each meal and emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must have at least 3 years of experience, preferably in a long-term care dietary department. Interested applicants must be able to work alternative shifts and weekends. Able to work independently and adapt to menu changes on short notice. Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Must be able to read and understand standard English, follow preplanned menus and recipes, and be able to work with various food products and cleaning supplies.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
