JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for all administrative and managerial functions and activities for nursing services, to included development of policies and procedures, departmental budget, employee relations, scheduling effectively, and development of long/short term goals. Responsible for ensuring that all nursing staff is properly educated/trained and has the tools required to perform their duties. Implements federal, state and local regulations pertaining to nursing services. Assesses and implements actions to ensure effective strategies and methods for delivery of nursing care. Cooperates in developing and implementing a process for an interdisciplinary approach to healthcare delivery. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to work independently and make independent decisions. Must be extremely customer service oriented, creative and be open to new and innovative patient care alternatives. Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to deal tactfully and effectively with residents, families and visitors, government agencies and the general public. Must possess the ability to perform effectively in crisis situations. Must have the ability to interpret and implement state and federal regulations. Must also have the ability to organize and implement systems. CPR certification preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a BSN or MSN preferred. Must have at least 5-7 years experience as a DON in LTC.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee.
